CURRICULUM VITAE

 

Ralph Christians, born in West Germany, studied Social and Educational Sciences and Journalism in the wild ‘70s and worked as editor and reporter for German newspapers, radio and an iconic satirical magazine. He joined the film industry in the early ‘80s, produced investigative documentaries for public broadcasters in Germany and the Nordic countries, and live action TV movies and feature films.

 

Ralph set up his independent productions in Iceland, Ireland and Germany over 30 years ago and worked as a producer, creator, writer and executive producer in live action and animation movies and TV series. Recently he produced nine “Jack Taylor” Irish crime movies and an action adventure thriller in Iceland, “Operation Napoleon”. Currently Ralph prepares new crime shows in Germany, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg and Italy, again based on books he discovered, stories he researched or underlying ideas and fictitious environments he created.

Once in a blue moon, an interview, article or review is published about me or my work – for years and years I was referred to as “the creative talent”. Now, all of a sudden, they call me “the industry veteran”. Time has passed, just like that.

Okay, I got a hell of a lot of experience - in creating, writing, financing, selling, contracting, producing and exploiting films or TV series.

In addition to that I have a wonderful network of writers, co-producers, broadcasters, distributors, funds and, of course, cast and crew. Among them are a lot of good friends.

My home territory is North by North-West in Europe. Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Finland and the three Scandinavian countries, Benelux, UK and France. Every now and then, I branch out of this comfortable loop and work with Canada or the US.
